Cleaning Out the Closet, part dos

Remember Friday when I said I was going to go through my closet and get rid of some things because “Spring is here! And I must have new skirts!”

The giant pile. About half went to Goodwill. The other half got packed in my suitcase. I’ll take these clothes on my work trips this summer to Bolivia, Nicaragua and Mozambique. Then I can leave them behind and bring home goodies with the suitcase space. (And it is always nice to give people your clothing. The women I work with really seem to appreciate it.)

The intended brief organization of the closet turned into a several hour affair with lots of folding, sorting and gasping. Good Lord, I own way too many skirts as is. It is fun to find pieces of clothing you forgot you owned.

And shoes. Good grief, I do not need any more shoes. (Although I am pretty sure this isn’t going to stop me from buying those Chacos.)

Love those Chuck Taylors. I’d wear them to work if I could.

The point to all of this was to remind myself to be happy with what I own and to use what I’ve got. I’m participating in the new flickr pool called “Use What You Have.”

Lots of photos of projects submitted found here.

I’ve even signed up for April. It is fun to look at my craft and art supplies and figure out what I can create with them, rather than starting with the project and going to look for the supplies. It is just a different way of being creative. I’m enjoying the challenge so far.

In other news, I am happy to announce my hair is back to its natural state. Thank God. I wasn’t made for blonde highlights.

That’s the Manos shrug I knit. Ms. Nicole asked for a photo of me wearing it. So, I present a lame bathroom mirror self-portrait:

Happy Monday to All,

~K

Nice work on the Goodwill stash, and I love the idea of leaving clothes behind when you travel for the folks who could use them there. Yer always thinkin’!

I say, go for the Chacos, I haven’t taken my new ones off since I got ‘em.

Your shrug looks so pretty on you! I think you used the pattern on Crafster, right? Did you have to change it much? (I think the pattern called for a heavier gauge yarn.) Thanks!

You know what is so funny about this post? I was JUST thinking yesterday that I should hit you up for a shirt or two to borrow for Key West. I should have called you yesterday!
